Adam Boqvist, Kirby Dach headline 2019 Blackhawks prospect tournament roster

The Blackhawks are sending their prospects back to Traverse City, where they will participate in an eight-team round-robin tournament from Sept. 6-10 at Centre Ice Arena. And it's a stacked roster.

Adam Boqvist and Kirby Dach headline the group of 24 players, which features 14 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders. The team will be coached by Rockford IceHogs head coach Derek King and his staff.

Other notable prospects to keep an eye on: Nicolas Beaudin, MacKenzie Entwistle, Brandon Hagel, Chad Krys and Philipp Kurashev, all five of whom are expected to start with the IceHogs this season. Tim Soderlund, who missed development camp because of visa issues, is also on the roster.

Forwards Luke Bignell, Shawn Element, Riley McKay, Isaac Nurse and goaltender Nico Daws are on the roster as free-agent invitees.

Jeremy Colliton said at prospect camp in July that Traverse City will be "a much easier job to evaluate how close anyone is" at in their development because everyone is now at the same stage of their offseason training program. And it's true when you think back two years ago to Alex DeBrincat, who had a quiet development camp but raised eyebrows when he helped lead the Blackhawks to the 2017 Traverse City championship. It gives players a chance to really show off their talent in a game-type setting with high stakes.

The Blackhawks will be in a division with the Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs. The Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers round out the second division.
