The Blackhawks have agreed to terms with forward Jujhar Khaira on a two-year contract, the team announced Wednesday. His cap hit is $975,000.
Khaira, 26, registered 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 40 games this season for the Edmonton Oilers. He also scored one goal in four postseason contests.
Khaira is a physical forward who can play center or wing. He recorded a career-high 141 hits this season and averaged 13:08 of ice time. He's expected to compete for a role on Chicago's bottom-six next season.
Khaira was drafted by the Oilers in the third round (No. 63 overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. On Nov. 28, 2015, he became the third player of Punjabi descent to play in the NHL, joining Robin Bawa and Manny Malholtra.
