The Blackhawks have selected center Colton Dach with their second-round pick (No. 62 overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft. He is the younger brother of Blackhawks center Kirby Dach.

"Kind of at a loss for words right now," Colton said. "When I heard my name, I stood up and looked right at my mom and she almost had tears in her eyes. It means a lot to them. Everything they’ve done for Kirby and I and now that we’re in Chicago together, so they can sleep a little easier knowing they only have one flight to go watch one team, they don't have to cheer against each other, so I think they're pretty excited."

Dach, 18, registered 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) in 20 games this season with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League. He had 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 62 games last season.

Dach is listed at 6-foot-4, 196 pounds, carries a left-handed shot and is considered to be a power forward. He was ranked No. 19 on the NHL's Central Scouting Rankings among North American skaters.

The selection comes one day after the Blackhawks united the Jones brothers in Chicago after acquiring Caleb and Seth within two weeks of each other. The New Jersey Devils also brought together two-thirds of the Hughes brothers, taking Luke Hughes at No. 4 overall on Friday two years after making his older brother Jack the No. 1 overall selection.
