Blackhawks make first wave of cuts, trim roster to 49

The Blackhawks made their first wave of cuts on Saturday morning and trimmed their roster to 49 players after starting training camp with 63.

Nine forwards, two goaltenders and one defenseman were all assigned to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Here's a look at the moves:

Forwards: D.J. Busdeker, Liam Folkes, Carson Gicewicz, Riley McKay, Dylan McLaughlin, Garrett Mitchell, Chris Wilkie, Chad Yetman and Kale Howarth.

Defensemen: Ryan Stanton.

Goaltenders: Tom Aubrun and Cale Morris.

On Thursday, the Blackhawks also re-assigned Jalen Luypen to the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League and defenseman Ethan Del Mastro to the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Blackhawks' roster currently stands at 28 forwards, 16 defensemen and five goaltenders.
