Seth Jones, three others placed in COVID-19 protocol

Seth Jones was placed in COVID-19 protocol, the team announced Tuesday. He reportedly participated in morning skate at Nationwide Arena but did not speak to the media afterwards.

It was supposed to be Jones' first game back in Columbus since the blockbuster offseason trade that most notably included Adam Boqvist, a first-round pick in 2022, and a swap of 2021 first-rounders.

Jake McCab, head athletic trainer Mike Gapski and head equipment manager Troy Parchman were also placed in COVID-19 protocol. Brandon Hagel and Sam Lafferty are the other two players in protocol; Erik Gustafsson and Kevin Lankinen were cleared to rejoin the team on Tuesday.

Interim head coach Derek King said after morning skate that Jakub Galvas, who was assigned to the active roster from the taxi squad, will take McCabe's spot in the lineup and make his NHL debut. Caleb Jones is expected to take his brother Seth's spot in the lineup.
