Friends, family, teammates congratulate Kane on 1,000th game

Until last week, Patrick Kane would be hard-pressed to find a milestone he achieved without Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews by his side.

Tuesday night marked Kane’s 1,000th career NHL game, and Toews made a special video to celebrate his teammate’s decorated career.

Since joining the league together in 2007 (and ending each of their seasons as Calder Trophy finalists), Kane and Toews quickly became the NHL’s most dynamic duo, and Chicago’s best since Jordan and Pippen. What they accomplished together on the ice demands mutual respect, and neither star player has ever held back on expressing his admiration for the other.

Marian Hossa, who played for eight seasons with Kane in Chicago and was an integral part of all three championship seasons, also sent Kane a heartfelt message, where he credited number 88 for bringing the Stanley Cup to his home country of Slovakia.

On Oct. 6, 2007, the game in which he earned his first ever NHL point, Kane beat his childhood idol, Dominik Hasek, in a 4-3 shootout win over the Detroit Red Wings. Hasek joked that he let him score the shootout's only goal in another video posted by the Blackhawks' Twitter on Tuesday.

Kane's three sisters, Erica, Jessica and Jacqueline, also gave their superstar brother a sweet shoutout.

“It’s been a special ride to be a part of it with you since day one,” Toews said in his video, which was posted by the Blackhawks Twitter account on Tuesday.

Indeed, it has. For all of us.
