Shaw, who won two Stanley Cups with Crawford (2013, 2015) took to Instagram to react to the news shortly after it was announced:

"Best of luck wherever you end up Crow! You always gave us 100% and I’ll never forget that! Lots of respect for you! Thanks for always being you! Hall of Famer in my books bud!"

Bickell and Crawford not only won two Cups together, but played a combined nine seasons as teammates between the AHL and with the Hawks.

"I called him shortly after (the news) and I was surprised he answered his phone. He was definitely shocked and I was shocked. He had a good conversation with Stan (Bowman), but was just shocked," Bickell told NBC Sports Chicago. "He got drafted in '03 and being there for that long and having all the history.... I'm pretty sure [he has] a couple, three, four years left of good hockey.

"I guess it's disappointing in a way, but also I think where the Hawks are, they're in that young rebuilding stage where kind of like what they did starting in '08, building it up with Seabrook, Keith and getting all these young players and [them] coming up together. I think that's why we were so successful because we had that stage where everyone came up. ... I know he'll find a good home and do what he does, he was obviously a huge part of the two Cup runs and if you don't have a [good] goalie you're not going to win a Stanley Cup."

Bolland also played with Crawford in the minors before winning a cup with him in 2013.

"It's tough to keep some of those top guys now. It's one of those things, I think they believe in some of the other goalies they have, but I think Crow did a lot for the Hawks and won them two Stanley Cups," Bolland told NBC Sports Chicago.

"He was one of the key guys [during 2013 Cup run]. He kept us in some of those games. I just remember Crow stood on his head and he made some big saves for us."

Darling was Crawford's goalie partner for three years, winning a Cup with him in 2015.

"I did not see that coming. I don't know much, I'm kind of on the outside now. I don't know the intricate details of offers and the back and forth with them, but it's going to be very weird to see Corey in a different jersey and to not have him be the goalie for the Hawks," Darling told NBC Sports Chicago. "I was a fan of his before I ever was his teammate and I've been a fan of his since, and it's just going to be a very weird changing of the guard in Chicago.

"Just as a fan, because now I'm just a fan, I'm stunned. I was stunned that they didn't re-sign him because I had heard he wanted to take a hometown discount to stay in Chicago. For me as an outsider and knowing a little bit about it, this is like the sign of a real rebuild because Corey's been keeping this team competitive for years."
