Following Game 4's 3-0 victory over the Wild that had the Blackhawks sitting tall, up 3-1 in the series, the Hawks would find even more scoring and see Corey Crawford keep up his stellar play in net for Game 5 of the 2013 Western Conference quarterfinals, re-airing on NBC Sports Chicago a 4 p.m. on Thursday.
After hitting their stride in Game 4's shutout, Chicago was looking to send Minnesota packing after Game 5 at the United Center.
Marian Hossa put forth a dominate performance with two goals and an assist and Crawford made 21 saves on 22 shots, good for a .955 save percentage in the contest.
Hossa scored his second goal of the 2013 postseason late in the first period off an assist from Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews. He added another goal at 6:26 of the second period after Marcus Kruger put the Hawks ahead 2-0 earlier in the second.
Andrew Shaw provided some insurance at 10:46 of the second frame to make it 4-1 after Torrey Mitchell got the Wild on the board.
Patrick Sharp capped things off with his fifth goal of the playoffs on a Blackhawks' power play at 6:04 of the third period for the 5-1 final score.
