_ both sides have agreed that it will be best-of-7 in all four playoff rounds (best of 5 in play-in round)
- Teams will be re-seeded after each round (not bracketed)
One of the finalized items included the length of games for each series. The play-in round — Blackhawks vs. Oilers in the Western Conference — will be five games and the rest of the postseason series will be seven, with teams being re-seeded after each round.
It was recently reported that team training camps to lead up to the postseason format wouldn't begin ahead of July 10.
The NHL paused on March 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
