The Chicago Bulls are finalizing a sign-and-trade agreement that will net DeMar DeRozan from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Thad Young, Al-Farouq Aminu and draft capital.
The terms of the deal, which NBC Sports Chicago has confirmed:
- DeRozan will sign a fully-guaranteed three-year, $85 million deal with the Bulls.
- Going back to the Spurs are Thad Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, a 2025 first-round pick and second-round picks in 2022 and 2025 going to San Antonio. (Because the Bulls parted with first-round picks in 2021 and 2023 in the Nikola Vučević trade, the earliest they can trade a first is in 2025 due to the Stepien Rule.)

DeRozan, a four-time All-Star who turns 32 in August, averaged 21.6 points, a career-high 6.9 assists and shot 49.5 percent from the field with the Spurs last season.
Young, 33, was a bright spot amid a disappointing 2020-21 campaign for the Bulls, also posting his career-high in assists per game with 4.3 and garnering Sixth Man of the Year votes for his two-way impact on the team.
Aminu, 30, was acquired as a tag-along in the Vučević deal after an oft-injured tenure in Orlando, and never stuck in Billy Donovan's rotation.
The move marks another big splash after the Bulls agreed to terms with Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso to fortify their back court on Day 1 of free agency.

With a slew of roster spots left to fill, the Bulls still have restricted rights on free agent Lauri Markkanen, who could be retained or signed-and-traded himself.
