If you follow Coby White on Instagram, you may have gotten a scare when the Bulls guard posted several photos without his glorious hair.
White won Bulls fans over with his happy-go-lucky demeanor, aggressive play, and of course his incredible afro and equally awesome dreads. In only one season, White had cemented his spot in the Bulls Hair Hall of Fame, alongside legends like Artis Gilmore, Dennis Rodman and Joakim Noah.
So if you panicked when you saw White’s glossy new dome, it’s understandable.

But fear not! According to some of my Gen Z colleagues, White’s new look comes courtesy of a popular Snapchat filter. That’s right, it’s not real. Take a closer look at the tops of White’s ears in the first photo, and you can see the blurring from the filter.
Admittedly, the more I stare at the new 'do, the more it grows on me. White looks like a more mature guard, ready to take the next step under new head coach Billy Donovan. With a long line of bald superstars in the NBA, could White take this new look and channel the energy of greats like Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, or even the GOAT himself?
No matter what hairstyle White lands on this season, he’s sure to look good on the court.
