Derrick Rose gets engaged on Madison Square Garden court

Former Chicago Bulls MVP Derrick Rose got engaged to his girlfriend, Alaina, recently, and did so in dramatic fashion.

Rose, who re-upped with the New York Knicks on a three-year, $43 million contract in August after being traded there last season, popped the question during what appears to be a date on the Madison Square Garden hardwood.

He and his fiancée both posted about the engagement on their Instagram accounts:

The unique idea has Knicks fans ready to nickname Rose "Mr. Deeds," a reference to the 2002 Adam Sandler flick in which Sandler's character, Longfellow Deeds, also plans a proposal at MSG:

It also recalls Drake recently being spotted on a date in an empty Dodger Stadium:

Now engaged, Rose is clearly comfortable in his new city, and with his new team, which features former Bull Taj Gibson and is coached by former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau.
