Former Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic wins Euroleague award

File this one under old friends doing well in new places.

Former Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic left the NBA this past offseason and returned to Europe. He joined FC Barcelona, an ironic landing spot because he spent several years with bitter rival Real Madrid before joining the Bulls.

Mirotic was named the Euroleague MVP for February. The 29-year-old became the first player to win a monthly Euroleague award four times. He also won the award this past December.

In four Euroleague games, Mirotic averaged 21 points and six rebounds per game while shooting 57.4% from the field, 42.9% from 3-point range and 87.5% from the free throw line. Overall, Mirotic is fourth in the league in scoring (18.9) and third in rebounds (7.0).

He is still in his prime years and helped the Milwaukee Bucks last playoffs so it shouldn’t be a surprise that Mirotic is a standout in Europe. NBA offers are likely to keep coming if Mirotic wants to come back to the States.
