Lauri Markkanen thanks SLAM for remembering him this time

In late October, SLAM Magazine sent out a tweet asking who would be fans pick to have the best career out of the top players in the 2017 NBA Draft class. Interestingly enough, they left out a member of the All-Rookie 1st team in Bulls power forward Lauri Markkanen, which elicited a shock reaction from the Finnish big man.

Now, with SLAM releasing another batch of lists, they made sure not to forget about Markkanen this time. And they also included Zach LaVine on their "Dunkers you are most grateful for" list as well.

Markkanen was included on the All-Thankful team, a list of athletes, actors and musicians that SLAM are thankful for. Of course he lived up to his reputation, showing the publication some love for the inclusion. He also elaborated on the bigger things in life he was thankful for.

There is no target return date for the second-year forward, but he seems to be ramping up his basketball activity more and more.

Fred Hoiberg may keep Markkanen out of action a little longer than he needs to just to make sure he is 110 percent ready to go upon his return to the lineup. Markkanen averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game last season, and will be a tremendous boon considering Chicago's 3-point attempt rate has fallen despite their accuracy from deep increasing.

For a Bulls team that is currently 27th in the league in points per game (104.2), Markkanen's pending return is something Chicago can certainly be thankful for.
