NBA to allow Bulls, other ‘Delete 8' representatives in Orlando bubble

The Bulls are eligible for Orlando after all.

Kind of.

If they wish.

A league source confirmed a report first posted by The Athletic that representatives from the eight teams not included in the NBA's 22-team restart, including the Bulls, can enter the so-called bubble constructed on the Disney World campus outside Orlando for the sole purpose of watching and scouting games. Following team practices and scrimmages, the NBA's regular season is scheduled to resume on July 30.

The teams can send up to three representatives, who would have to register a negative test for COVID-19 that is authorized by the league. These team representatives would only be allowed to move between their off-campus hotel and arenas and not mingle with any members of the traveling parties from the 22 teams inside the bubble and at three designated hotels. The Athletic further reported that these representatives would have to wear a mask, undergo temperature checks and another test for COVID-19 each time they enter an arena to watch games.

The benefit would be in-person scouting. However, with no interaction between reps from the so-called "Delete 8" teams and the 22 teams resuming their seasons, each team will have to weigh the risk-reward factor. Games will be televised as well.

As of now, Chicago is asking citizens who visit high-risk areas, which includes Florida, to quarantine for 14 days upon return. That would be another factor for Bulls' representatives to consider when making their decisions.

The Bulls also remain hopeful that the league and National Basketball Players Association can reach agreement on a second "bubble" environment, which likely would be in Chicago, for the eight teams to have formal team activities. If such a scenario arises, that would be the team's main focus.
