NBA Draft 2020: Illini's Ayo Dosunmu declares while maintaining eligibility

Share

Chicago native Ayo Dosunmu announced on Wednesday that he would be declaring for the 2020 NBA Draft while keeping his eligibility for the next college basketball season.

Dosunmu did not hire an agent yet, which means he can go through the entire draft process — including the NBA Combine — to get feedback pertaining to where he would get drafted. The decision to stay in the draft or return to school must be made before June 3, the official date to withdraw from NBA Draft consideration.

Over two years, the former Morgan Park Mustang helped bring Illinois basketball back to prominence. In his sophomore season, Dosunmu averaged 16.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game on 48.4% shooting from the field.

Dosunmu suffered a leg injury in early February but missed no time. He scored at least 17 points or more in Illinois' last six games—in which they went 5-1—to lead them to a second-place finish in the Big Ten.
