Nikola Mirotic is the league's best 3-point shooter, and Quincy Pondexter wants him in the 3-Point Contest

The Bulls haven't had a player in the 3-Point Contest since 1997, when Steve Kerr took home the trophy in 1997. Kerr, who at the time had the NBA's all-time best 3-point field goal percentage, beat Tim Legler with a score of 22 in the final round.

Quincy Pondexter is hoping that 11 years later we'll see the Bulls red back in the contest.

Pondexter's video comes at quite the coincidental time. Mirotic exploded for eight 3-pointers in Friday's win over the Pacers, scoring 28 points to help the Bulls win their 10th game in 12 tries since Mirotic returned.

But that wasn't all.

The eight triples gave him 36 made 3-pointers on the season. The Bulls have played 35 games, meaning Mirotic officially qualifies for the league leaders in 3-point field goal percentage.

And wouldn't you know it? Mirotic's 48.0 percent mark leads the NBA, in front of Boston rookie Jayson Tatum (47.5%), former Bulls guard and current Pelicans guard E'Twaun Moore (47.1%) and Washington's Otto Porter (46.6%). The next Bulls player on the qualifying list is Denzel Valentine, at 39.6 percent.

So will we see Mirotic in the 3-Point Contest in a few months in L.A.? Based on the video it seems like Mirotic wants in. A better question might be whether Mirotic will be wearing a Bulls jersey come February 18.
