Former MLB star Alex Rodriguez and tech entrepreneur Marc Lore reportedly have agreed to purchase the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA's Minnesota Lynx for $1.5 billion.

Rodriguez and Lore reportedly will each own 50 percent of the teams.

After it was reported last summer that Glen Taylor was looking to sell the teams after being the majority owner for 30 years, Rodriguez and the ownership group worked to secure exclusive negotiating rights in April. They were given a 30-day window to buy the franchises that expired Tuesday, but the group remained engaged in talks with Taylor.

News of the reported deal should excite Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards who sounded quite unimpressed when asked last month about A-Rod being the new owner of the team.
