The NBA appears to already be adjusting its calendar for the 2021 season, and preparing to hold big events without fans present. According to Anthony Calhoun, the NBA has canceled hotel contracts in Indianapolis for the 2021 All-Star Weekend.
Calhoun followed with another tweet which quoted an NBA spokesperson on the hotel cancellations.
While it’s unclear what the full scope of this news means, i.e. whether All-Star Weekend is canceled altogether or merely postponed, the second tweet hints that more changes could be coming, beyond All-Star Weekend.
For now, the start of the 2020-2021 season is still unknown, however Adrian Wojnarowski reports the NBA has told teams it hopes to begin on Dec. 1. Our own K.C. Johnson reports that date may be pushed back further if it appears there’s a chance fans can watch games inside the arenas.
Whatever does happen, it appears more details are still forthcoming.
