Report: Former Bull Thabo Sefolosha retires

Thabo Sefolosha is calling it a career after 14 seasons in the NBA, according to the New Zurich Times.

Sefolosha made his NBA debut with the Bulls in 2006, after the 76ers drafted, then promptly traded him to Chicago in a draft-day deal. While he only played two and a half seasons with the Bulls he’s still a fan favorite known for playing tough defense. Ahead of the 2009 trade deadline, the Bulls traded Sefolosha to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a first-round draft pick. The Bulls later used that pick to draft Taj Gibson.

It was in Oklahoma City where Sefolosha truly flourished. He played in all 82 games for the only time in his career in 2009, and helped the Thunder make the Western Conference Finals as a defensive anchor in 2010 and the NBA Finals the very next year.

In all, Sefolosha played 869 games, scored 4,994 points with 3,252 rebounds, 1,196 assists, 935 steals and 366 blocks. None of those numbers jump off the page, or rank highly on any all-time lists, but they illustrate his ability to affect the game in many different ways. He made one All-NBA Defensive team in 2010.
