DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine each had a heckuva game on Friday night.
DeRozan scored 49 points and LaVine scored 39 points in the Bulls' win against the Timberwolves. With that, they became the second duo in Bulls history to score 39+ points each in a game.
Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen wrote themselves in as the first, scoring 44 and 40 points, respectively, against the Indiana Pacers in 1996.
LaVine and DeRozan now have the most points of any Bulls duo in a single game, notching 88 on Friday. The highest duo-scoring record before them was Jordan and Horace Grant in 1990 when they combined for 85 points.
"We've done that close before," LaVine said after the game. "Obviously, double OT we knew what we had to do. Two guys get it going like that, it's just picking your poison. D [DeRozan] had it going so much in the first half. In the second half, you know what he does in the fourth quarter. I was just trying to complement him. Once they started doubling him, I picked my spots to give him some time off the ball. It worked out in the end. We understand who we are as players."
"It just shows how dynamic and dominant we are when me and him got it going," DeRozan said of him and LaVine. "You gotta make a decision on what you want to do with one of us. If somebody gets hot, the other one can get hot and run off 10, 15 points and have a big night, score 45-50 points. When we got it rolling like that, it makes everything so much easier to score and play make and get everybody else involved."

DeRozan shot 15-of-25 from the field on Friday, adding 14 rebounds and four assists to his night. LaVine also shot 15-of-25 from the field, adding four rebounds and five assists to a productive evening.
The Bulls went to double overtime with the Timberwolves and defeated them at home, 139-131. The last time the Bulls faced Minnesota, they allowed them to score 150 points against them, which reportedly sparked disputes in the locker room at halftime.
This time, the Bulls didn't allow that to happen. They shot an astounding 54.3 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from 3-point land.

They improved their record on the season to 32-37, giving Minnesota a loss to fall back to under .500. The Bulls now own the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference. With that place, they hold a spot in the play-in, but only by a 0.5 game.
Their upcoming schedule isn't any easier. They play the Miami Heat on Saturday before taking on the Philadelphia 76ers twice next week on the road and at home. There are 13 games left in the season for the Bulls to etch their spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
