The Bears 2012 schedule includes the Indianapolis Colts, a game to be played in Soldier Field. It is likely to give the Bears a look at the No. 1 overall pick in this years draft.
Sources are telling Chris Mortensen over at ESPN that the Colts and owner Jim Irsay will take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. That is probably a good thing, given the Bears recent history with first-overall picks.
They drew Cam Newton in 2011 when the Carolina Panthers came to Soldier Field and won. They got past Matthew Stafford in 2009 in the one Bears game Stafford played. That said, both Newton and Stafford put up serious numbers at the Bears expense.
They would have played JaMarcus Russell in 2007 when they went to Oakland, but Russell was behind Josh McCown (yes, that Josh McCown, the possible Bears Josh McCown).
CSNChicago.com has been told by more than one source that Peyton Manning wants no part of mentoring Luck and the going assumption is that the Colts will deal Manning out of Indianapolis at some point before the Bears see them.
