Bears Grades: No. 1 DL unit finally together at same time

Share

The Bears finally got their No. 1 defensive line together at the same time, with Jeremiah Ratliff returning from an ankle injury and sliding from nose tackle to end and rookie Eddie Goldman playing the middle in base, and Jarvis Jenkins at the other end. The result was a shutdown of the Kansas City Chiefs offense in the second half that included crucial stops at critical junctures and throttling the offense after it lost franchise running back Jamaal Charles to a knee injury in the second half.

Ratliff had four tackles and a quarterback hit in his first time taking the field this season. “It was the first game back on it in a couple weeks but it felt good, held up pretty well, and it just felt good to be part of this.”

Young registered his first sack of the season and was able to mount occasional pressure, including a tackle for loss.

"At the beginning of the season we talked about playing a good first half but we need to put a complete game together," Jenkins said. "In the first half we didn't play too well. We came in that they scored the first touchdown. ... The defense needs to give the offense opportunities. The offense had some struggles but we kept giving them the ball and they got their mojo back."
