On the latest Bears Talk podcast, Pat Boyle and Jim Miller discuss the future of the Bears under center.
Is Matt Barkley or Brian Hoyer the answer heading into next season?
Plus, should the team use the franchise tag on Alshon Jeffery once again? Why Vic Fangio might not be a fit in Chicago next season. Could a former head coach and former Bear help turn the defense around?
Listen to the latest episode of the Bears Talk Podcast below:
Undrafted rookie free agent cornerback Kevin Toliver will make his NFL debut against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.
Veteran cornerback Marcus Cooper was ruled out for the game with a hamstring injury, and the Bears’ inactive list confirmed that Toliver will be dressing for Sunday afternoon’s game.
Also missing Week 3 is safety DeAndre Houston-Carson, who is still recovering from a broke forearm he suffered during the preseason.
Rookie draft picks Javon Wims and Kylie Fitts are once again inactive, while Bilal Nichols continues to get the nod on the defensive line over veteran Nick Williams.
Fullback Michael Burton is active this week after sitting out Monday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Cooper’s absence and Burton’s return are the only difference from last week’s inactives list.
The Bears remain one of the healthiest teams in the NFL, and they’re looking to get out of Arizona once again unscathed.
It is with a heavy heart that I report that Pat Mahomes is at it again:
Would you like some context?
As your most annoying friend surely reminded you, Mahomes was taken several picks after Mitchell Trubisky in the 2017 NFL draft. In the time since, Trubisky has shown flashes of brillance in otherwise mediocre performances while Mahomes looks like an MVP. The optics don't look great for the Bears, even if it is only Week 3.
A strong performance this afternoon against one of the worst defenses in the NFL would do Trubisky (and Bears Twitter) a whole bunch of good.
