The Bears announced that safety Chris Conte has been named to the Pro Football WeeklyProfessional Football Writers of America 2011 All-Rookie Team.

Selected by the Bears in the third round of the 2011 draft out of California, Conte played in 14 games and made 30 total tackles. His first-career interception -- and only of the season -- came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the teams met in London on Oct. 23.

At the beginning of the year, I did not expect that Id be starting, Conte told ChicagoBears.com earlier this month. I thought Id be doing the special teams stuff, and if somebody got hurt, get some playing time. But the way things worked out, I think it was great and I think I handled it pretty well.
