Forte's hands second best among RBs

Matt Forte may not be the most elusive running back in the NFL, but according to Pro Football Focus, he does have some of the best hands out of the backfield.

Forte's ability as a reliable third down running back goes further than just being able to pick up first downs on the ground. Over the last three seasons, Forte has dropped just 3.0 percent of catchable passes that have come his way, the second best number for running backs in the NFL.

Forte has had 165 catchable balls thrown his way since 2009, the fourth most in the NFL (behind Ray Rice, Darren Sproles and LeSean McCoy). He has dropped just five passes.

Only New Orleans' Pierre Thomas (2.5 percent) was better, dropping only three passes in 120 catchable targets.

And while the Bears deal with Forte's holdout this off-season, they can be rest-assured the football is in good hands when going to Michael Bush. The recently acquired running back came in at No. 7 in PFF's rankings, dropping three passes in 75 catchable attempts.

Forte's numbers are impressive compared to the rest of the NFC North, as well. Adrian Peterson's drop rate (11.9 percent) was second worst over the last three seasons, and former Detroit Lion running back Kevin Smith had a drop rate of 11.0 percent, sixth worst.
