John Fox on Robbie Gould: ‘We're not going to lose faith'

Robbie Gould's struggles continued this week, and another missed field goal proved to be costly on Sunday.

Gould missed a potential game-tying field goal wide right late in the fourth quarter in the Bears' 24-21 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

A disappointed Gould feels like he let his teammates down.

"The guys did a great job getting in to range and I just didn't execute," said Gould after the game. "It's frustrating. It's tough. Obviously you've got guys out there competing and doing a great job all game and it comes down to one play. My teammates rely on me. In the last two weeks, I just haven't got it done.

"They got in range. I got to make it."

Gould has missed six field goals this season in 13 games. He started the year off strong, going 17-for-17. But since then, he's 9-for-15.

Despite the kicker's struggles, coach John Fox is sticking behind him.

"It's been unfortunate where it's come down to two games where they're pivotal kicks. Unfortunately we came up a little short; didn't connect on it," said Fox. "We're not going to lose faith in guys. We're going to continue to work on our craft. We've been real close, unfortunately, too close too many times on the wrong end of it. We just got to get better.

"We've got three games this season to make that happen. That's what we'll do. That'll be our objective."
