Kyle Long's 2017 debut with Bears will have to wait another week

Kyle Long's 2017 debut will have to wait another week as the Bears officially ruled out their Pro Bowl guard for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In fact, he didn't even travel with the team on Saturday afternoon.

Long continues to recover from an ankle injury he suffered last November — in Tampa Bay — that required offseason surgery.

The fact he was listed as questionable all week, however, signals he's inching closer to a return, and it could come Week 3 when the Bears welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to town.

Tom Compton is expected to start at left guard once again.
