Matt Forte responds to tweet questioning Bears' lack of interest in him

Matt Forte left the Bears without much drama. But apparently he has some questions about the front office's decision making.

Forte posted on Instagram on Feb. 12 that the Bears informed him they wouldn't be re-signing the 30-year-old running back. Forte said he was "grateful" for his eight seasons with the Bears and that "Chicago will always be home."

But Wednesday Forte responded to a tweet questioning the Bears' front office decisions.

The Bears were reportedly interested in Anderson, an unrestricted free agent, this offseason. They had a meeting lined up with the 25-year-old running back. But Anderson postponed the meeting with the Bears and instead flew to Miami, where he ended up signing a four-year, $18 million offer sheet with the Dolphins. The Broncos wound up matching the offer to retain Anderson's services, but it was clear the Bears were interested. Anderson even said after the fact that the Bears gave Anderson the highest offer.

Still, it's pretty obvious why general manager Ryan Pace went after Anderson and not Forte. Anderson is five years younger than Forte and has just 338 career carries and 59 receptions in three years. Those 397 touches are more than 2,000 less than the 2,522 times Forte has touched the ball, and that's only regular season numbers.

Forte wound up signing with the New York Jets.
