It's been quite the whirlwind week for new Bears tight end and aspiring comedian Khari Lee.
Lee, who in his short NFL career is most known for doing a spot-on impression of Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien during an episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks," spent most of the week preparing for the Texans' preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys before getting called into general manager Rick Smith's office.
It was the call that any young NFL player dreads as he tries to make a roster out of training camp, but luckily for Lee he wasn't being cut by the Texans.
Smith broke the news that Lee had been traded to the Bears. At the drop of a hat the former Texan had to hop on the first flight to Chicago and prepare for Thursday's preseason matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
"It's been crazy," Lee said. "One minute I'm in a walk-through about to play the Cowboys and then I get shipped off here. It was crazy."
Despite not much film on Lee, an undrafted free agent out of Bowie State who had five receptions for 71 yards in three preseason games with the Texans, the Bears confidently gave up a 2017 sixth-round draft selection for a player that they could've signed to an unguaranteed contract back in May.
"His in-line blocking is pretty effective," Bears head coach John Fox said. "We took some good looks at him. Our scouting department liked him. Our coaching staff looked at him. We didn't get a whole lot of looks tonight, but we had a few. He'll be in that mix as well."

Lee, who hauled in 107 passes for 1,255 yards and four touchdowns during his collegiate career, joins a Bears team stocked at the tight end position. But if the preseason finale was any indication Lee is a virtual lock to make the team. Lee played sparingly against the Browns (a clear sign the coaching staff already has him penciled in on the 53-man roster), while reserves Zach Miller and Dante Rosario played nearly the whole game.
And if he does stick with the Bears for the remainder of the season, you'll likely hear a Fox impression in the near future.
"They said I had the John Fox one down, but I told them not quite."
