Seabrook to play vs. Penguins

PITTSBURGHBrent Seabrook didnt feel too bad after the hit from behind he took Sunday night. And two days later, he feels good enough to play.

The defenseman will play tonight and Ray Emery will get his sixth consecutive start when the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Seabrook, who took the hit from Rene Bourque late in the first period on Sunday night, said he was never knocked out and actually felt OK when he went off the ice. But he was removed for precautionary reasons and says he feels fine now.

I remember the whole thing. I just got hit, I heard Bourque say right away he was sorry. I couldnt get up so I just put my head down and everybody seemed to think I was knocked out, he said. I said I felt fine, that I could go back out there.

But the Blackhawks were understandably erring on the side of caution.

You want to side with that as you go along here, especially where hes been (with head injuries), coach Joel Quenneville said. For the docs and the trainers, it was an easy call.

Seabrook had at least two other head injuries, coming off hits from James Wisniewski and Raffi Torres, respectively. Fortunately, hes missed little time due to any of them. Its another example of how you just cant judge how these hits affect one player to another.

Bourque got suspended two games for the hit. Quenneville said that was fair.

I think they got their job to do, Quenneville said. Both guys were probably in tough spots. That can happen.

Meanwhile, Daniel Carcillo is out for tonights game and doubtful for tomorrows game against the Montreal Canadiens.

And with the back to back, Quenneville said theres a good chance Corey Crawford starts in goal against the Canadiens. If he does, it will be Crawfords first start this month.
