In an effort to clarify shooting guard Keith Bogans' contractual situation -- the veteran was pulled off the court Friday afternoon, the first day of training camp -- the Bulls released a statement from general manager Gar Forman.
"Keith Bogans is under contract with the Bulls and we have a Dec. 19 option on that contract," said Forman. "At this time, we are exploring several options in finalizing our roster.
"We have always respected Keith's professionalism and we hope to have more clarity on this situation soon."
Bogans' team option for the upcoming season is for 1.73 million. While Bogans could still be brought back in a reserve role, sources indicate the Bulls and recently waived veteran shooting guard Rip Hamilton have mutual interest.
Hamilton, a longtime Piston, was bought out by Detroit earlier Friday. Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau refused to comment on Hamilton after Friday's practice.
Bulls first-round draft pick Jimmy Butler signed his rookie contract with the team, the organization announced Friday. The former Marquette standout should add depth at both wing positions.
