CSNChicago's Bulls Insider Vincent Goodwill appeared on the Pro Basketball Talk podcast with PBT's Kurt Helin, discussing the Bulls' missing the playoffs and where the franchise could be headed next.

Goodwill spoke about Fred Hoiberg's first season in Chicago, Joakim Noah's possible future and the ascension of Jimmy Butler on the floor and in the locker room.

On Hoiberg's system and the roster: "That’s the overlooked thing. Everybody wanted to focus on other parts of the Hoiberg experience. How he meshed with Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose. And how he handled the benching of Joakim Noah and what he represented as far as replacing Tom Thibodeau.

"But he did not inherit a roster conducive to his style of play."

"If we’re still under the narrative that we’re supposed to make a run in the Eastern Conference If that’s the case, you have to tailor your system to your roster to get the most out of it. The only players who fit the system were Doug McDermott and to a lesser degree, Nikola Mirotic."

"Your most productive players thrived playing a certain way and maybe it was a little bit too unrealistic to expect a smooth and seamless transition and maybe it was an underestimation of how much those guys would struggle in the system."
