Doug McDermott is quickly understanding the importance of the Bulls-LeBron rivalry.

With the report surfacing Tuesday that the Bulls will open their season at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 27, McDermott was asked about the task at hand of battling LeBron James on national TV.

"That's going to be a crazy atmosphere, and obviously playing against the best player in the world is always a challenge," he said Wednesday. "They're going to have a really good roster, but we feel we've got a really good one, too. So it's going to be a competitive year and I look forward to it."

The Bulls opened their home schedule against LeBron's Cavs a year ago, falling 114-108 in overtime. James and the Cavs went 3-1 against the Bulls in the regular season and bounced Tom Thibodeau's group in six games in the second round of the playoffs.

And any time Joakim Noah and James are involved, a "crazy atmosphere" is the perfect way to put it.
