WASHINGTON Bulls power forward Taj Gibson will return Wednesday against the Wizards after missing Tuesdays rout over Philadelphia in Chicago in the wake of a concussion suffered in Saturdays loss to the Clippers.
Gibson told reporters he passed a series of neurological tests leading up to the game, but will come off the bench against Washington, according to Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau.
They were looking to see how it goes tonight. Im just going out there and playing, Gibson said of the tests. Trying to see if I remember things, seeing if I still have headaches or get irritable real easy. They were doing a lot of tests on me yesterday and the last few days.
I feel way better than initially. Im ready to go out there and just try, see whats up.
They went away two days ago. Right after the Clippers game I had a lot of headaches, but Im better now, he continued. They just did it sat him out against the 76ers as a precaution, I think and they just want to be safe because they said next time, if it does happen, it could take me out for a longer time.
I still dont remember what happened. I just remember getting hit from behind and I remember grabbing my head.
Gibson moved well and shot the ball accurately during pregame warm-ups at the Verizon Center.
Hes been cleared and well see how it goes once hes out there, said Thibodeau. Hes coming off the bench. Kurt Thomas will start.
Kurt Thomas, 38, scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked five shots as the Bulls starting center in Tuesdays win.
