Lakers could trade Gasol sooner rather than later

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak released a statement on Monday night that discussed the current trade speculation surrounding Pau Gasol and said he has a "responsibility to ownership, our fans and the players on this team to actively pursue opportunities to improve the team for this season and seasons to come."

Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops.com, who reported on Monday that Derrick Rose told Bulls management that he wouldn't be against a trade to acquire Gasol, discussed the rumors Tuesday morning on WMVP.

"Pau Gasol is going to get traded, it looks like," said Sheridan. "The Lakers have to do something to get better."

So if the Bulls were interested in acquiring Gasol, what would they need to give up?

"Obviously there would have to be more going to the Lakers than Carlos Boozer because Pau is a better player and the Lakers need more pieces.

"I think the Lakers need a point guard and C.J. Watson has proved himself to be a very worthy point guard with all these games that Derrick has missed. So, that might be one solution," said Sheridan.

Sheridan went on to say that he thinks the Lakers will get a trade done sooner rather than later.

With the trade deadline coming up on March 15, do you want the Bulls to trade for Pau Gasol? And if so, who would you be willing to give up to get him?
