Michael Jordan chimes into DeAndre Jordan emoji war, wins with goat

Share

A hilarious emoji war broke out on Twitter between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks as both teams are in the process of convincing free-agent center DeAndre Jordan to sign with them.

Last week, Jordan agreed to leave the Clippers to join the Mavericks for a four-year maximum contract worth more than $80 million. Usually, regardless the clear implication of "agree" as opposed to "sign" in NBA free agency talk, it's all mostly said and done at this point.

Until *drum roll* ESPN's Marc Stein reported on Wednesday (hours before the battle) that the Clippers were making one last pitch to keep him.

So then it went from a report, to the most epic situation of NBA superstars sub-tweeting each other in the history of Twitter. But in the end, there can only be one winner (and it's not the Clippers or Mavericks).

Let the games begin...

Mavericks forward, Chandler Parson, kicked things off with the simplest tweet there ever could be.

...which then led to a response by JJ Redick, Jordan's former-ish teammate.

Let Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski explain:

It quickly became a "who can emoji their way to DeAndre Jordan most effectively/stylishly/better than all of you" game.

 Blake Griffin's in.

And then Paul Pierce came out with his flip phone.....

But it's all fun and games until an NBA Champion shows up:

Or.. better yet, when a six-time NBA Champion shows up.

Plus Scottie Pippen with the assist.

Whether MJ himself tweeted that or the very witty social media person behind his brand did -- doesn't matter. It's still a goat. A GOAT!

"Greatest of all time." Game over.
