The worst kept secret in Chicago appears to be a smooth landing away from becoming a reality.

According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, Fred Hoiberg has already informed Iowa State that he will be accepting the head coaching job with the Bulls.

Hoiberg, who is rumored to have a five-year deal to become the 22nd head coach in Bulls franchise history, boarded a private plane from Ames bound for Chicago on Monday afternoon. A deal with Hoiberg and the Bulls could be announced as early as Monday evening.

Hoiberg has been the head coach of his alma mater, Iowa State, since 2010. He has compiled a 115-56 record with four NCAA Tournament appearances. Under Hoiberg's guidance, the Cyclones notched back-to-back Big 12 Tournament titles in 2014 and 2015.

Once hired, Hoiberg replaces former Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, who was fired last Thursday after five seasons in Chicago.
