Rose hopes to play against Mavericks

After missing three consecutive games with a right ankle injury that also caused soreness in his foot and tendons, Derrick Rose intends to return to the Bulls lineup for Saturday evenings game against the Mavericks.

Im moving a lot better right now. Hopefully, I should be able to go. See how it feels after I ice it a little bit, said the All-Star point guard. It felt all right. It feels like a regular ankle sprain now. My tendons arent sore like they were previous days.

Rose downplayed reports that taping his ankles aggravated his injury, attributing it more to his style of play, though he did acknowledge the injury was odd.

Just playing again, getting my minutes back over time, playing the way I play, I think that has something to do with it more than the tape, he explained. When I was younger, I used to get ankle sprains. Id think nothing about fluid or anything, I just thought it was sore. Ever since I got to the league, things changed.

"If I do choose to play, its really not up to me how long Im going to play. Its Thibs; hes been doing a great job measuring my minutes, he continued. Its important, just to get my rhythm back. But my team is playing all right. Im just trying to fit in, still be a past of this team and do whatever it takes to win.

Prior to Rose speaking with the media, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said Rose would be a game-time decision.

Rose also talked about having to sit out the Bulls loss Thursday in Miami.

Definitely hard playing against a team, knowing our background with that team, he said. Hopefully in the future, we should meet each other.

Timberwolves fan finds a new use for their Jimmy Butler jersey

Jimmy Butler finally got his wish earlier this week when the Timberwolves dealt him to the Philadelphia 76ers for Dario Saric, Robert Covington, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick. The deal gives the Timberwolves a chance to try to stay competitive in the present with an increased focused on their core consisting of former No. 1 picks Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins.

Timberwolves faithful were (obviously) hurt at the way Butler forced his way out of town and one fan found an interesting use for his Butler home jersey.

Reddit user jdbuffs1 titled the post "Really cool new doormat to wipe my shoes on."

The post elicited other great responses from users such as "We cant see it [the doormat] with that rag covering it" and "YOU CAN'T WIPE YOUR FEET WITHOUT ME."

T'Wolves fan are right to have a little fun with Butler's departure, which ends one of the more intriguing trade-demand sagas in recent NBA history.

With the makeup of Minnesota's squad post-Butler trade, the team will be in a solid position whether they end up with a 2019 lottery pick or make a surprising playoff run. And while the T'Wolves would likely take Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine over ending their long playoff drought last year, it is tough to fault Tom Thibodeau on the move considering how good they looked for stretches last season.

Only time will tell if the Sixers won the Butler trade with the T'Wolves.

On paper, the Sixers easily won this trade. But if Butler ends up  being a one season rental for Philly, the T'Wolves will be able to look back at this deal and be happy with the fact they were able to extract two players who can bring long-term value, while allowing their core players to take on a bigger role.

NBA 2K19 ratings boost for Wendell Carter, Antonio Blakeney and Zach LaVine

In the latest NBA 2K19 update, Wendell Carter, Antonio Blakeney and Zach LaVine and former Bulls Derrick Rose received significant boosts in their overall rating.

Rose was the biggest riser throughout the entire game this week, moving up +5 points to  an 80 overall. He has shown the explosiveness he was known for in the past—to some degree—and has coupled that with a much improved jumps hot.

Chicago rookies Carter and Blakeney saw the biggest improvement among Bulls players, both getting a +3 bump in their rating.

Blakeney is now a 72 overall and Carter now sits at a 79 overall, making the Duke product one of the best rookies in NBA 2K19. Blakeney has always been a dynamite scorer but he is now starting to improve his efficiency, making him a dependable rotation player. And Carter has been incredibly steady for the Bulls—specifically on defense—to the point where he can undoubtedly be called the team's best defender (until Kris Dunn's return).

LaVine recently had a ratings boost to get him up to an 84 overall, but since that boost he had perhaps his best game as a pro, notching a career-high 41 points in an overtime win against the Knicks.

With the current +2 boost for LaVine his new rating is 86 overall. With the leap, NBA 2K19 now has LaVine firmly ranked as one of the top 10 shooting guards in the NBA, behind Donovan Mitchell and slightly ahead of Bucks guard Khris Middleton.
