The Cubs added another arm to their 40-man roster with a Wednesday-night trade.
The Cubs acquired right-hander Alec Mills in a trade with the Kansas City Royals, dealing away minor league outfielder Donnie Dewees. They also designated pitcher David Rollins for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

Mills made just three appearances in the big leagues last season, allowing five runs in 3 1/3 innings of work. He worked mainly as a starter in the minors, making 24 appearances at Double-A and Triple-A, starting 23 of those games. He earned five wins and posted a 3.22 ERA in those 24 games, striking out 122 batters in 125 2/3 innings pitched.
Mills, who was a 22nd-round pick in the 2012 draft, turned 25 in November.
