MESA, Ariz. — Cubs minor league outfielder Albert Almora said he’s “100 percent” after receiving treatment for a back spasm he suffered during drills at Sloan Park Wednesday morning.

The 21-year-old said his back knot up when he broke in to chase a fly ball. He's had back spasms in the past, and said the one he suffered Wednesday was minor.

Almora won't play in Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Cleveland Indians and wasn't sure when he'd be cleared to play again, though he said the spasm wasn't anything that would've kept him out of a more important contest.

"I feel great right now," Almora said. "I feel better. I could go right now. I could play 100 percent right now. They decided why do it, it’s spring, the games don’t count. Any day in the season I’m playing."

Almora was picked sixth overall by the Cubs in the 2012 MLB Draft and has a .287 batting average with .740 OPS in 1,398 minor league plate appearances. He spent the 2015 season with Double-A Tennessee, hitting .272/.327/.400 with 26 doubles, six home runs, 32 walks and 47 strikeouts in 106 games.
