CINCINNATI – The Cubs won’t be hosting a Wrigley Field viewing party for the National League’s wild-card game.

The Cubs explored the possibility of opening up their iconic stadium and showing the one-game playoff on the new video boards in left and right field, but team officials apparently ran into complications and ultimately decided against that idea.

Julian Green, the club’s vice president of communications and community affairs, released a statement on Wednesday to reporters:

“After much consideration regarding the logistics and time required to successfully execute an exceptional guest experience while actively preparing for potential postseason play at home, we have decided to put this plan on hold.

“Given the excitement we have seen from Cubs fans this season, we know our fans will find a great place to watch the game and cheer on our team.”

The Cubs clinched their playoff spot over the weekend and have already been eliminated from the division race, making PNC Park their likely postseason destination for a prime-time game on Oct. 7 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
