As if there aren't already enough reminders of the epic run last fall, the Cubs will get to spend a week thinking back on last year's playoffs as they face the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers in the last full week of May.
First up, the Cubs welcome Jeff Samardzija and the Giants into town for a four-game mid-week series.
Before Monday's game, Cubs manager Joe Maddon reflected back on that National League Division Series with the Giants and how the Cubs actually won the World Series thanks to that amazing comeback in the ninth inning of Game 4 out in San Francisco.
Samardzija will go in the series finale Thursday against his former team and the 32-year-old right-hander has been really good of late — he hasn't walked a batter in four May starts and has posted a 2.73 ERA while striking out 36 batters in 29.2 innings in the season's second month.
Friday, the Cubs head out to Hollywood to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers for a three-game weekend series before moving on to San Diego as part of a West Coast trip.
