Want playoff tickets? The Cubs are holding a lottery

Cubs fans have been waiting seven years for a chance to see their team back in the playoffs.

It's all but certain that the Cubs will play at least one postseason game (FanGraphs cites their playoff odds at 99.6 percent) and fans who want to purchase single-game tickets can register for a random drawing.

The contest began Thursday at 9 a.m. and runs until Sept. 23 at Noon and tickets include a chance for the wild-card game (if the Cubs overtake the Pirates for the first wild card and host that one-game playoff) and the National League Division Series (if the Cubs get past the Pirates in the wild-card game).

Head to Cubs.com/Postseason, where you will be met with this questionnaire:

First of all, that's awesome. What other organization has a questionnaire to fill out to describe the type of fan you are before entering a contest for playoff tickets?

Those who register are randomly selected to have a one-time chance to buy a maximum of four tickets to the first playoff game at Wrigley Field (assuming one takes place there, of course).

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and the Cubs warn that just because fans were selected in the drawing does not mean they are guaranteed tickets.

As a reminder, the NL wild card game is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 7 and the NLDS starts Friday, Oct. 9 (though the Cubs wouldn't be hosting an NLDS game until Monday, Oct. 12 if they make it past the wild-card game).

This is gonna be fun.
