Chicago Fire Designated Player David Accam is making another return to the Ghanaian national team.
Accam, 24, has been named to Avram Grant's 24-man squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda. The Black Stars will face Congo in a friendly on Sept. 1 in Brazzaville, four days before they travel to Kigali for their second Group H qualifying match.
The Fire begin their three-match road stint at Orlando City SC on Saturday and will be without their speedy winger for the following match at the Montreal Impact on Sept. 5, which could be a significant fixture in shaping the playoff picture as the season winds down.
Accam recently represented Ghana in the opening round of qualifying matches in June, netting his first international goal in the team's resounding 7-1 triumph over Mauritius. Earlier this year, he earned his first international cap against Senegal in the 2015 African Cup of Nations tournament, and featured in a friendly with Mali on March 31.
