Another long-rumored move relating to the Chicago Fire was made official on Wednesday with former Fire captain Jeff Larentowicz signing with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Larentowicz, 32, was a part of Major League Soccer’s first-ever free agent class. He was listed as a midfielder by the Galaxy after moving to central defense during his three-year tenure with the Fire.

Larentowicz made 94 regular season appearances in his three years with the Fire and tallied 14 goals and seven assists in that time. He was the team’s primary penalty kick taker last season, finishing with six goals in 2015.

Nicknamed “Big Red” Larentowicz is entering his 12th year in MLS. He began his career with the New England Revolution and later played for the Colorado Rapids, where he won the 2010 MLS Cup. He has totaled more than 300 regular season appearances in his MLS career.

Three other Fire players, Mike Magee, Ty Harden and Jon Busch, are also free agents this offseason. Magee has also been linked to a move to the Galaxy according to multiple reports.
