Sean Johnson receives Section 8 Player of the Year award, donates to fellow goalkeeper Matt Lampson's charity

Sean Johnson has been with the Chicago Fire for all seven years of his professional career and the goalkeeper has become a fan favorite in his time with the club.

Johnson finished the 2016 season as the most tenured player on the roster, by far, and the Section 8 supporters' group has specific chants for him. With that in mind it's not a big surprise that Section 8 named Johnson its Fire Player of the Year.

The supporter-voted award went to Johnson after a push to give the long-time Fire 'keeper some love as he enters some uncertainty this offseason. The Fire hold a club option for Johnson in 2017. As Johnson accepted the award Saturday at the Globe Pub in Chicago, he said his contract status and any potential moves will be "sorted out in the near future."

However, that wasn't the most noteworthy thing to come from Johnson accepting the award. For winning the award, Section 8 donates $1,000 to a charity of the player's choice. Johnson chose fellow Fire goalkeeper Matt Lampson's LampStrong Foundation.

Some good goalkeeper love from Johnson to give to Lampson's charity. Lampson responded on Twitter and naturally threw in a joke.
