After spending his first seven MLB seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Alex Avila is starting a new chapter in 2016 with the White Sox.

The 29-year-old catcher signed a one-year, $2.5 million on Nov. 25 to be on the opposite side of the Tigers-White Sox rivalry.

When Avila first signed with the White Sox, one of the first things he did was taunt his father, Al Avila, who's the Tigers' executive vice president of baseball operations and general manager.

"Right after I signed (with the White Sox), I called (my dad) and said 'Hey I'm signing with the White Sox.' I can't wait to kick your ass."

"You said that to your dad?" asked Garfien.

"Yeah, absolutely. He'd say the same thing to me," Avila responded. "When you're in baseball, you're in competition."
