KANSAS CITY -- Hamstring tests the past few days have gone well but J.B. Shuck still intends to be cautious.

Ideally, Shuck would come off the disabled list when he’s eligible on Aug. 16. But even though Shuck -- who’s hitting .278/.339/.361 with 11 RBIs in 112 plate appearances -- has never had a hamstring injury before he knows how tricky they can be.

“I’m kind of new to it so there’s definitely that cautious side,” Shuck said. “I’ve heard a lot of stories of guys who try to come back too soon and it gives them a lot of problems. I’m trying not to go too quick because obviously I want to get back out there. But our medical staff does a great job and I think they’re going to keep me right on track and make sure I don’t get too far ahead or too far behind.”
