Morel immediately starts hitting on rehab assignment

Brent Morel has been on the disabled list since May 18 with a Lumbar back strain, but he began his rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte Wednesday night and immediately showed signs he's healthy.

Morel went 2 for 3 with a double in five innings Wednesday night and followed that up with a 2 for 5 performance Thursday. He'll get at least one more game in Friday before the White Sox will be faced with a roster decision when Morel is eligible to come off the disabled list Saturday.

Orlando Hudson is experiencing his first taste at the hot corner, but is hitting just .185 with a double, triple and four RBIs in nine games with the White Sox. Meanwhile, Morel was hitting just .177 with zero home runs, two doubles and five RBIs when he was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Whenever the Sox choose to activate Morel, Eduardo Escobar could be sent down. Escobar, 23, is hitting .140 with one RBI in 15 games and has played just once since May 19.
